Key Objectives

  • House people as soon as possible, then place appropriate supportive services to keep people housed;
  • Build mutually beneficial, collaborative, long-term relationships between housing providers, homeless services providers, and people experiencing homelessness;
  • Increase awareness of housing providers/tenant laws;
  • Encourage housing providers to use alternative screening criteria while respecting Fair housing Law and to assist agencies in better understanding landlord-tenant laws that impact their clients;
  • Ensure tenants have the skills and resources necessary for housing stability;
  • Create incentives for participating housing providers;
  • Promote greater community awareness of the realities of homelessness;
  • Help social services providers and people experiencing homelessness to better understand the business model and need of property owners and managers;
  • Make strategic program decisions using the best possible data;
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HousingCLT, participating social services agencies, and housing providers.
